Boohoo Daventry logistics site to close

After news that it’s considering closing its two-year-old, state-of-the-art factory in Leicester earlier this month, the fashion e-tailer now wants to close its Daventry warehouse as it looks to streamline its distribution network. Around 400 jobs are at risk. The Daventry site has been in the news quite a lot during its history having become available on the collapse of Arcadia. Boohoo opened the Northamptonshire distribution centre in 2021 following the acquisition of Debenhams and Arcadia Group brands Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis.

It comes just a month after Boohoo revealed it’s also closing its fledging Wellingborough, Northamptonshire distribution centre, which put 420 roles at risk. The warehouse services its Boohoo, BoohooMan, MissPap, Karen Millen, Coast, Dorothy Perkins, Oasis, Burton, Wallis and Debenhams brands. The closures follow the opening of Boohoo’s US distribution centre in Pennsylvania last year and a £150 million investment in its now-fully automated Sheffield warehouse. It also operates another warehouse in Burnley.A spokesperson for Boohoo Group said: “For the past three years, our Daventry distribution centre has played an important role in Boohoo Group’s UK operation.“As our business and customer needs evolve, the group has taken the difficult but necessary decision to close our Daventry operation and divert investment to other UK sites, in order to better serve our customers around the world.“We are working closely with all affected colleagues to ensure they are fully supported throughout this time.”
